Join us for MDT&S Summer 2024 Dance Intensives and Themed Camps!
MDT&S will host Performing Arts Division (PAD) Summer Intensives and Young Children’s Division (YCD) camps. Current MDT&S students as well as students new to the school are welcome to sign up for these summer courses.
Classes are offered by experience level for PAD and by age for YCD camps. Course descriptions, as well as dates and locations, are detailed below.
Students may choose to enroll for one or more weeks of summer courses. Class sizes will be limited.

In these fun-filled camps, young dancers discover how to bring a plot and characters to life with movement, music, and imagination. Students enhance their coordination, develop fundamental dance skills, and enjoy opportunities for creativity as they journey through engaging stories. Students can sign up for one or both weeks. (Ages 4-6). Class sizes will be limited.

Under the Sea
Young dancers train in ballet and contemporary aesthetics with a heightened focus on alignment, musicality, technique, and terminology. These classes continue to emphasize the joy of dancing and creative movement while preparing students for entrance into MDT’s Performing Arts Division. (Ages 7-9). Class sizes will be limited.
YCD Intermediate Session Dates: June 17-27, 2024 - Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays

The Performing Arts Division (PAD) summer intensives aim to build upon the MDT&S curriculum based in classical ballet technique and incorporating contemporary dance forms. Classes are taught by MDT faculty. Many classes for Level C and above will have live pianist accompaniment.
PAD level classes are aimed at dancers who have mastered the fundamentals of ballet technique. Classes will include: Ballet Technique, Contemporary Technique, Conditioning/Strength and Creative Workshops.
Current MDT&S students should register for the level in which they were placed for the 2023-2024 school year. New students should contact MDT&S at school@mndance.org to discuss level placement prior to registering for classes.
The following is a general guide for level placement. This should be used as a guide only and should not replace a formal placement conversation with MDT faculty.
Level A - 2+ years of ballet training (age 8+)
Level B - 3+ years of ballet training
Level C - 5+ years of ballet training and beginning level experience of pointe work
Level D - 6+ years of ballet training and 2+ years of experience in pointe work
Level E - 7+ years of ballet training and 4+ years of experience in pointe work
PAD Session Dates: June 10-28, 2024

Registration fee and deposit:
All Summer course registrants will be charged a non-refundable $35 registration fee. A non-refundable commitment deposit of $20 per week is also required upon registration. Balances may be paid in full at the time of registration or payment plan options may be chosen.
Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable and are subtracted from your total summer intensive fees. Please note registration takes place online.
Cancellations:
If for any reason you need to cancel your registration, you will receive a refund for any fees you have paid not including the registration fee and commitment deposit, provided you cancel at least 15 days prior to the first day of the session for which you are registered. Cancellation requests should be made in writing to school@mndance.org.
No Show:
If you are registered for a session and do not attend for any reason and/or do not notify us that you will not be attending at least 15 days prior to the session’s start date, refunds will not be issued.
Class Format:
All MDT&S summer courses will be held in person at our downtown studios. MDT&S reserves the right to change the location and/or format of these courses in the case of extreme circumstances. This may include the option to switch to a virtual format if the circumstances warrant. If these circumstances occur, class times and prices will be evaluated for adjustment.
Holidays:
MDT&S will observe Juneteenth on Wednesday , June 19. No summer classes will be held on this holiday. Makeup classes will be offered for Levels B/C and Levels D/E, as noted in the registration specifics.
